Bulletstorm nuovo tris di immagini

TEMPESTA DI PROIETTILI – Si torna a parlare di Bulletstorm, il promettente FPS ambientato in una lontanissima colonia penale dove, impersonando i mercenari Grayson Hunt e Ishi Sato, dovremo cercare di scappare da quel luogo dimenticato da Dio facendoci strada tra i peggiori delinquenti della Galassia. Pare infatti che Epic Games abbia deciso di attirare un po’ della nostra attenzione sul titolo sviluppato dalla software house People Can Fly rilasciando immagini inedite del gioco. Purtroppo il “regalo” si è rivelato un po’ deludente, da veri tirchi: solo tre screenshots! Ma anche se poche, le foto lasciano ben sperare nel prodotto finale che, ricordiamo, sarà disponibile per PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 e PC a partire dal 25 febbraio 2011.

Insomniac nessun gioco per NGP

Un po’ a sorpresa, lo studio di Insomniac Games, particolarmente legato a Sony e al marchio PlayStation per aver dato vita alle amate saghe di Resistance ed in particolare di Ratchet & Clank, ha annunciato che non lavorerà su NGP, la prossima console portatile della compagnia giapponese che sostituirà l’attuale PSP.

Escludendo automaticamente anche il Nintendo 3DS, Insomniac spiega infatti che vuole concentrarsi al massimo sulle console casalinghe come PlayStation 3 e Xbox 360 (sulla quale il team debutterà molto presto con il progetto realizzato in collaborazione con EA) senza “distrarsi” in progetti destinati a sistemi portatili.

PS Vita, vendite quadruplicate in Giappone

Arrivano finalmente ottime notizie per PlayStation Vita. Hiroshi Kawano, presidente di Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, ha annunciato infatti che le vendite della console portatile in Giappone sono quadruplicate rispetto due settimane fa, merito degli effetti scaturiti dal taglio di prezzi ufficiale operativo nella terra del sol levante a partire dal 28 febbraio. Non è chiaro a quali numeri si riferisca esattamente Kawano, ma due settimane fa, la console aveva venduto circa 11.000 unità, ragion per cui dovremmo trovare questa settimana cifre intorno alle 40.000/50.000 unità vendute.

Resident Evil Revelations su Xbox 360 e PS3, ecco gli obiettivi

Non è la prima volta che si parla di un porting di Resident Evil: Revelations su console in alta definizione. Sviluppato e pubblicato originariamente in esclusiva su Nintendo 3DS, lo spin-off della serie horror firmata è entrato presto nel giro dei rumor che lo vogliono su PlayStation 3 e Xbox 360 in una edizione speciale, con tanto di rimasterizzazione in HD. Sebbene dallo studio giapponese non siano arrivati elementi che suggeriscano l’avverarsi di questa opportunità, spuntano oggi in rete gli obiettivi per la versione Xbox 360: a questo punto manca solo l’annuncio ufficiale.

Videogiochi da regalare a Natale 2012

Sparatutto

Il genere degli sparatutto è probabilmente quello più inflazionato nel mondo dei videogiochi dell’era moderna. Non trovare qualcosa da consigliare è dunque praticamente impossibile. Obbligatorio citare pezzi da novanta come Halo 4, Call of Duty Black Ops 2 e Far Cry 3: trittico che ha reso questa fine dell’anno più entusiasmante che mai per gli appassionati del genere. Degno di attenzione è anche Borderlands 2, specialmente se giocato in cooperativa, oltre a Ghost Recon Future Soldier e The Darkness 2. Non è esattamente per tutti, ma a nostro parere vale una menzione anche Binary Domain. Di recente uscita è invece Planetside 2, ma solo online. 

Corse

 

Un genere che non muore mai è sicuramente quello dei racing. Chiunque ami questo tipo di videogiochi non deve assolutamente farsi sfuggire Forza Horizon, vera sorpresa del 2012. Occhio di riguardo per il sempreverde Need for Speed: Most Wanted, con citazione particolare anche per il divertente Dirt Showdown e l’ottimo F1 2012. 

Se siete in cerca di qualcosa di diverso e che si avvicini per certi versi a Mario Kart, allora il consiglio è quello di rivolgersi a uno tra LittleBigPlanet Karting, F1 Race Stars e Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. 

Azione

I tre imperdibili del genere quest’anno sono certamente Assassin’s Creed 3, Dishonored e Darksiders 2. Da tenere d’occhio anche la Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, se volete rivivere in alta definizione tre episodi della nota saga Kojima e, restando a parlare di riedizioni speciali, quella dedicata alla trilogia di Jak and Daxter. Impossibile non citare perle come Max Payne 3 e Hitman Absolution, due franchise storici tornati nel 2012 per la gioia di tutti i fan. 

Attenzione inoltre a Kid Icarus: Uprising, uno dei migliori titoli per Nintendo 3DS e un occhio di riguardo lo meritano certamente Sleeping Dogs, Prototype 2, Resident Evil 6, Gravity Rush e Uncharted: L’Abisso d’Oro.

Giochi di Ruolo e Action-RPG

La categoria dei Giochi di Ruolo è stata ampiamente rivoluzionata in questa generazione, in favore di una maggiore semplificazione che porta a definire la maggior parte di questi prodotti più dei meri action-RPG. Per questo abbiamo deciso di includerli entrambi nella medesima categoria. Iniziamo con un trittico fenomenale: The Witcher 2, Mass Effect 3 e Diablo 3, meritevoli tutti di far parte della collezione di qualsiasi appassionato.

Ma c’è davvero tanto tra cui scegliere: il sorprendente Kingdoms of Amalur, la conferma di Paper Mario su Nintendo 3DS e di Pokémon Bianco e Nero 2 sul predecessore. Ancora, The Last Story, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Tales of Graces F, Kingdom Hearts 3D e Inazuma Eleven 2 per chi vuole aggiungere un pizzico di Giappone alla propria ludoteca. E poi ci sono quei titoli passati un po’ inosservati ma meritevoli comunque di una menzione: Tera, il nostalgico Legend of Grimrock e Of Orcs and Men.

Dragonborn, trailer in italiano e data del nuovo DLC di Skyrim

Dragonborn è, come anticipato, il nuovo DLC dedicato a The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Lo ha annunciato nel pomeriggio Bethesda distribuendo anche il primo trailer ufficiale in italiano disponibile in calce a questa notizia in lingua italiana. E, sempre come avevamo anticipato qualche settimana fa, è stata confermata tutta una serie di caratteristiche di questa espansione.

Dragonborn ci riporterà infatti alle terre di Vvanderfell, l’ambientazione protagonista dello storico e del mai troppo amato The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Ambientato dopo le vicende narrate in Skyrim, Dragonborn racconta dell’ennesimo ritorno dei draghi, accompagnato anche questa volta dal Sangue di Drago destinato a distruggerli. E forse a comandarli, visto che avremo finalmente la possibilità di cavalcarli. Ma la novità più interessante sarà senza dubbio il ritorno all’affascinante, cupa e misteriosa ambientazione di Morrowind, cosa che sicuramente farà piacere ai tanti appassionati della serie e eleverà ulteriormente il valore artistico di un gioco, quale Skyrim, già importante da questo punto di vista.

Nuovo PlayStation Store dal 17 ottobre, immagini e dettagli

Il nuovo PlayStation Store è ufficiale. Come avevamo anticipato qualche settimana fa, Sony ha annunciato una completa riprogettazione del suo negozio online che sarà operativa in Europa dal prossimo 17 ottobre. Un cambiamento radicale, sia dal punto di vista estetico come mostrano le immagini contenute nella gallery allegata a questo articolo, sia per quanto concerne le funzionalità. Le novità sono diverse, come si è affrettata a spiegare Sony nell’annunciare la notizia.

Wii Sports in America

Wii Sports, il nuovo capitolo dedicato agli sport per la Wii, spopola in America vendendo in soli otto giorni piu’ di cinquecento mila copie del gioco:  il gioco, uscito il 26 Luglio, sta segnando record su record. Dopo i dati dei giochi piu’venduti in Gran Bretagna, dove lo stesso WII Sports e’ risultato essere il gioco piu’ venduto della settimana, e dopo lo strepitoso successo in Giappone, anche gli USA non sono riusciti a resistere al nuovo gioco Nintendo.

Nintendo cuts price of Wii ahead of Wii U launch

(AP)—Nintendo Co. is dropping the price of its 6-year-old Wii gaming console ahead of the launch of its successor, the Wii U.

Nintendo said Monday that the Wii will cost $130 in the U.S., down from $150.

The Wii U game machine goes on sale in the U.S. on Nov. 18, starting at $300. It includes Nintendo TVii, which lets people who pay for other services, like cable TV and Wii cost $250 when it launched in 2006.

Cute, efficient Eee Top looks like future of home computing

Asus' adorable new touch-screen Eee Top desktop computer is a blast from the past. Not from the early days of computing, but the auto industry 40 years ago.

While testing the $599 Windows XP system the past few weeks, I kept thinking of how Asian car companies upended the U.S. market in the late 1960s by introducing small, cheap and charming models such as the Toyota Corolla and Datsun 510.

They arrived just before a recession and a fuel crisis. Soon millions of people were deciding they would sacrifice power and size for efficiency.

There are suddenly lots of interesting choices if you're looking for one of these systems.

HP has expanded the category with its TouchSmart desktops. They're full-blown PCs with powerful processors and more-refined touch applications, but they're also much larger and start at around $1,100.

Sony is now selling lovely all-in-one Vaio systems, but they also start at about $1,000 and don't have touch screens.

Next month Dell is entering the race with a svelte 19-inch model called the Studio One 19. It will start at $699 and include a built-in DVD drive, improved graphics and Windows Vista. But a touch screen will add $200 to the price.

Then there's the BMW of the bunch, Apple's influential iMac. It also lacks touch and starts at $1,200 - twice the price of an Eee Top.

Compared with those systems, the Eee Top is a bargain. It's the lowest-price touch-screen desktop by a mile, and has some premium features, including 802.11n Wi-Fi and a gigabit Ethernet jack. The system has a 16-inch screen, an Atom N270 processor, 1 gigabyte of RAM and a 160 gigabyte hard drive.

If you've got younger kids or space for an Eee Top in the kitchen, it will be the most-used computer your house.

Almost immediately after I plugged in a white review unit, my wife and daughters were insisting we buy one. Shortly after my mother-in-law visited, she called her husband and asked him to look into the Eee Top.

Yet I'm still on the fence about the Eee Top.

The system is cute and welcoming, like an early Mac.

Its scale feels right on a small desk or a countertop. It's like a small kitchen appliance, although the Apple-ish keyboard is too small for me to comfortably type fast.

Touch controls are handy for scrolling through a recipe without gunking up a keyboard. You can manipulate the cursor with a finger or a stylus that pops into a hole in the keyboard.

I especially like using the Eee Top like a big-screen iPod Touch (although it's a single touch screen, instead of the more capable multi-touch technology used by Apple): Flick a finger across the screen to choose an album and tap to play through stereo speakers that can fill a room with pretty good sound.

But the lack of a built-in CD/DVD drive means the Eee Top probably won't work as the only computer in your house - unless you buy an external drive, such as the $64 accessory drive offered by Asus.

The Eee Top's bundled touch applications are also lacking.

One is a media-playing program apparently written for PCs with an optical drive, which this one doesn't have. If you tap the "movies" icon - a DVD - it tells you to insert a disc.

There's also a special "Easy Mode" that fills the desktop with Web shortcuts - basically big buttons you tap to get recipes, the weather and other information from the Web. I can't say too much about this program because it failed repeatedly and eventually wouldn't even start.

Much better is the "Eee Bar" - a horizontal menu of favorite programs that you tap to drag across the bottom of the screen - and fun "sticky note" and webcam applications.

The Eee Top may also appeal to energy-conscious users. Asus claims the system consumes just 25 watts on average, and it has a nice power-management tool that can turn the power settings up and down as needed.

Hsu said Asus is thinking about whether to give upcoming models a built-in DVD drive and perhaps a tuner so they can play and record TV shows.

It is also preparing to release new Eee desktops, including one this summer that will have an entire computer stuffed into a keyboard. It's also selling a $299 Eee Box, a book-sized CPU with no monitor or optical drive.

These Atom-based wireless "nettop" desktops are so cheap we may eventually have them sprinkled all over the house. Instead of buying expensive gadgets to stream and store digital music and movies, why not just use a quiet little $300 computer?

Eee Tops will be especially appealing later this year, when it will be available with Windows 7, which has improved touch features.

I'm just hoping to keep the Eee Top fans in my house at bay until I've seen the Dell Studio One 19 and can decide whether it's worth an extra $300 or so.

Assassin's Creed III delayed for PC, next games will go further back in time

Assassins Creed III has been delayed for the PC, while future instalments of the popular game series will go further back in time rather than continue their gradual shift towards the present day.

Alex Hutchinson, Creative Director at Ubisoft, delivered the bad news that the third title will not launch on 30 October on the PC, but the console version appears to be unaffected. Hutchinson did promise that the game will be out in time for Christmas, however, and that the delay wont be long, so we can probably expect it out by the end of November.As for future games, Hutchinson told a Comic-Con panel: “I dont think well necessarily always go forward, or were dooming ourselves to run out of history.”The first game dealt with the Crusades in the 12th Century, the second covered the Renaissance in the 15th Century, and the upcoming third game deals with the American Revolution in the 18th Century. If this trend continued then players would only have a small period of time left to play in, with modern history making for a less convincing playground for the Templar versus Assasins storyline.Hutchinsons comments suggest the studio is already looking at other time periods for future titles. There is a lot of potential over the course of history and once the games break the existing sequence the possibility of jumping back and forward to other iconic periods opens up.Sources: Joystiq, Associated PressUpdates: According to GameSpy, the game is still on for October 30th release.

Ubisoft PR just contacted us to let us know that the PC version of Assassins Creed 3 is still "coming out on October 30, day and date with the console versions." Joystiq, who we sourced in our initial post, has updated their story as well. So apparently Alex Hutchinson, who is the creative lead on Assassins Creed 3, simply misspoke at the Comic-Con panel yesterday. Im still pretty skeptical about AC3 making that release date on the grounds that history is not on Ubisofts side. Nearly every PC version of a multi-platform Ubisoft game has met with some sort delay, most recently Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Rayman: Origins. Its hard for me to believe that Assassins Creed 3 is going to break from that unfortunate tradition.

GTA5, GTAV - GTA V se dévoile en deux images

Grand absent de l'E3, Grand Theft Auto V ne s'est pas beaucoup montré depuis son trailer d'annonce en octobre dernier. Relativement mystérieux, malgré quelques rumeurs, ce nouvel opus de la grande saga de Rockstar s'est cependant décidé à sortir un peu de sa réserve.

Attention tout de même à ne pas monter sur ses grands chevaux, car il ne s'agit là que de deux images. Dans la première, il sera possible d'admirer une vue aérienne du plus bel effet, soleil couchant à l'appui. Une occasion pour noter l'étendue de la ville, ainsi que la multiplicité des bâtiments, que l'on espère accessibles. La seconde permet de se régaler les yeux avec une petit plan d'eau bordé de palmiers, sur lequel se trouve une charmante jetée.

Vous en voulez encore ? Manque de bol, Rockstar n'a pas l'air prêt du tout à lâcher plus d'informations sur son jeu. En effet, si ces images ont été données en pâture aux joueurs à l'occasion d'un question/réponse entre le développeur et les joueurs, il faudra surtout retenir que les nouvelles informations, images ou trailer arriveront quand ça sera prêt. Haut les cœurs, on peut tout de même imaginer que le développeur ne sera pas sans faire quelque chose pour la Gamescom. Du moins, on peut l’espérer...
